This is an alpaca knit purchased from a thrift store.
There is no quality tag, so I believe it might be a hand-knit made in South America, possibly in Peru or Bolivia.
Alpaca, which is said to be the highest quality knit material, has very fine fibers, making it extremely lightweight. It is also reported to have superior warmth and durability compared to wool and cashmere. Additionally, because the fibers are straight, it is less prone to pilling and shrinking.
